In adapting the traditional Japanese way of Kintsugi for the modern day, to repair much loved pieces of pottery, Nandini’s process also involves adding new stories and a new life to pieces that would otherwise end up in a dump.

Translating lived memories to stoneware, Nandini creates a tableau of a past life, a moment within the walls of a home she remembers. Hard hitting though it may be, the doll house nature of the work, with movable characters, looks nearly like a teaching aid, a lesson in parenting.
