Meal for the Mended

Assorted Ceramics, Terracotta, Sea Glass, Epoxy Resin, Gold Dust paint, Adhesive and Synthetic Urushi. Variable

In adapting the traditional Japanese way of Kintsugi for the modern day, to repair much loved pieces of pottery, Nandini’s process also involves adding new stories and a new life to pieces that would otherwise end up in a dump.

Glazed Stoneware Clay, Synthetic Urushi, Gold Dust Paint, Adhesive, Fake Grass and Leather Belt. 18.5 x 27.9 x 14.73 cm. Weight: 374 gms

Translating lived memories to stoneware, Nandini creates a tableau of a past life, a moment within the walls of a home she remembers. Hard hitting though it may be, the doll house nature of the work, with movable characters, looks nearly like a teaching aid, a lesson in parenting.
